Early Life and Coaching Beginnings

Born in Argentina on July 21, 1971, Jorge Almirón began his coaching career in 2006 with Club Atlético San Miguel in the Argentine Primera B Metropolitana. He achieved success at smaller clubs before gaining recognition while managing Nacional in Uruguay's top-flight, where he won the Uruguayan Primera División title in 2014.

International Coaching Experience

In 2015, Almirón was appointed manager of the Honduras national football team, where he guided the team through the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign. After leaving Honduras, he took over at Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab and later at Colombian giants Atlético Nacional, winning the Colombian Primera División title in 2017.

Current Role at Elche CF

Since 2021, Almirón has been in charge of Spanish La Liga club Elche CF. He has guided Elche to safety in the league, ensuring their survival in the top flight and impressing with his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his players.
